Obstetrical ultrasound in 3D/4D
While it can be performed anytime after 12 weeks of pregnancy, the ideal time for getting the best images is within 28-32 weeks of pregnancy. The quality of the 3D/4D images are determined by the performance of the machine used and other subjective factors such as: the quantity of the amniotic fluid, the age of the pregnancy, the position of the placenta and the experience of the medical staff.
The breast ultrasound: it is an investigative procedure, especially used for women younger than 40 years of age, to investigate any breast symptoms in the initial stage that have been discovered in a gynecological consultation.

For women older than 40 years of age a mammography is recommended. However, various studies show that breast ultrasounds and magnetic resonance investigations can also bring valuable information to mammography by detecting small cancers, which may otherwise escape detection in women with dense tissue of the breast.A breast ultrasound is recommended as a screening method for women who:
- have a dense breast tissue (this means that there is a greater amount of breast and connective tissue compared to fat)
- have silicone breast implants and thus have a smaller proportion of breast tissue that can be seen in a mammography
- are pregnant and so, in danger if exposed to X-rays (which are used in a mammography)
- have a high risk of breast cancer- -based on family medical history, personal medical history or abnormal results in previous biopsies
